o.k. I'll give you some suggestions. It all depends on how much you want
to spend. If you want to spend only a little then get the nice little
things that make your system better to use as it is. If you want to
seriously transform your Amiga into something amazing, you need to spend
some serious money. But it's usually better to think about what you want
to do now with your system without having to throw it away when you upgrade
later.

Here we go....

upto £100. Get some extra memory and a PowerFlyer. You can get 16meg for

best thing I have ever bought for my system (including the Graphics card!)
as it will allow you to use 4 IDE devices. The only drawback is that your
idealy need a tower and a nice powerful PSU to run it. :-( You can pick
up second hand internal CDroms, HDDs, etc for next to nothing :-))

upto £200. Add a PowerTower to the above.

upto £400. Get a Blizzrd/Apollo 060 card. The speed will help you play
lots of games such as Payback and Quake as well as making your like a lot
easier. You might even, if bought at the right price, be able to afford a
'scandoubler+flickerfixer' with a cheap second hand monitor!

over £400. After all this I would suggest you get a Mediator and a Voodoo3
3000 graphics card. You can pick the Voodoo3 up cheap second hand, but
they are no longer available new.

The thing is to remember to but the right stuff in the right order. You
might be able to put up with the TV for a while or you might be able to
find an old 'Phillips CM8833-II' monitor. That'll make life so much
easier.

Just for your information. I have a second system here which is a Desktop
A1200 with an Apollo 040/28 and PowerFlyer. It's still stable but I had to
use an old A500 PSU to give it enough juice.

hope this information helps.

Regards

Nick
